Apple Carplay is a great feature that allows drivers to connect their iPhone to their car and use features like music playback, navigation, and hands-free calling.
However, there have been reports that Carplay keeps disconnecting while people are driving. In this blog post, we will explore some of the possible reasons why this might be happening and offer some solutions. So, keep reading!
What is apple carplay?
Before we get into the reasons for your Carplay’s disconnection, let’s first answer the question: what is Apple Carplay?
In short, Apple Carplay is a feature that allows drivers to use certain iPhone features in their car.
This includes making phone calls, playing music, sending text messages, and using navigation apps.
Carplay is available in many new cars and can be installed in older vehicles with aftermarket head units.
Now that we know what Carplay is, let’s take a look at some of the reasons why it might keep disconnecting.
Why My Carplay Keeps Disconnecting?
There are a number of causes for your Apple CarPlay to keep disconnecting. Here, we will share the most common ones:
1. Faulty or loose lightning cables:
The iPhone might not be properly connected to the car. This can be caused by a loose Lightning cable or a problem with the port itself. Make sure that the cable is firmly plugged in, and if it still doesn’t work, try restarting your iPhone.
2. Dust in the lightning port:
Another possible reason for Carplay’s disconnection is dust in the Lightning port. This can prevent the cable from making a good connection. To clean the port, use a can of compressed air to blow away the dust.
Do the same thing for the car’s USB port to make sure you clean both ends.
Once you’ve tried these solutions, Carplay should work properly again.
3. Poor car audio system:
There could be an issue with your car’s infotainment system. If you’re having problems with Carplay, try resetting your car’s infotainment system. To do this, consult your car’s owner manual.
4. Issues in power management:
If you’re still having problems, it might be due to power management issues. As the vehicle’s internal battery powers the CarPlay system, it follows that if there is a problem with the electrical system, the CarPlay system will malfunction and may turn off or stop entirely.
To solve that, you need to take your car to the nearest service center and have it checked by a professional.
5. Software malfunctions:
There might be a software problem with your iPhone or your car. In this case, the best thing to do is update your iOS version and try again.
6. Multiple apps are running:
Carplay may also keep disconnecting if too many apps are running in the background on your iPhone. To fix this, close all unnecessary apps and ensure that your phone is updated to the latest iOS version.

What if your CarPlay disconnects and reconnects since the latest iOS update?
There have been reports of Carplay randomly disconnecting and reconnecting after updating to the latest iOS version.
If this happens, make sure you’re connecting your iPhone to your car stereo with Apple Certified cables, and if you’re using a phone case, you can remove it from your iPhone and check whether the problem persists.
If the problem is still there, go to Settings -> General -> About -> Name, then rename your iPhone and reconnect it again! See if it helps.
If the problem is still on, you should delete the existing CarPlay setup and reset the network settings.
To delete the existing CarPlay setup, go to Settings > General > CarPlay > [stereo name] and forget the stereo and forget the iPhone from your stereo settings. You can refer to your stereo’s user manual for further information.
Then, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, remove the stereo from your settings, and forget the iPhone from your stereo settings. For further information, please check the stereo user manual.
Once you’ve completed this, you may reset your Network Settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also removes Wi-Fi networks and passwords, as well as cellular settings, VPN and APN settings that you’ve previously used.
After you’ve changed your Network Settings, reconnect your iPhone to the car stereo.
If you still have the problem after completing these steps, we recommend that you contact Apple Support right away to learn more about it.
Carplay disconnects iPhone 13
Most consumers had the same problem- their carplay disconnects iPhone 13. Everything on wireless Apple CarPlay worked until they attempted to play any sort of music from the app.
If the Carplay keeps disconnecting from your iPhone 13, you can go to settings> Music and change EQ to off.
Once you reset the settings, it should work.
But if you want to put the settings the way they had, set the EQ (equalizer) to Late Night, and then the music will stop, and the CarPlay will be disconnected once again.
Then, switch it back to off, and it will stay connected again.
Wrapping up:
Thanks for reading this article. We hope you’ve found this guide helpful and informative. To sum up, we just want to mention again that if your Carplay keeps disconnecting, it might be due to a software problem, an issue in power management, or simply because there are too many apps running in the background.
Resetting your iPhone will most likely fix the problem, but if it doesn’t, you can try deleting the existing Carplay setup and resetting your Network Settings. If that doesn’t work, contact Apple Support.
